This course will be offered as an 8-week subscription. It would appropriate for new performers as well as experienced dancers. The class will be 60 minutes long, however there would need to be a 15 minute break in between in order to clean/sanitize the space properly.
This course is designed to teach various dance styles exploring different pieces from Broadway shows. Each class will contain a dance warm-up, followed by a detailed breakdown of basic dance steps and then learning a 1-2 minute piece of choreography. Each routine will run for two weeks and then we will move on to a new routine. The main objective of this course is to explore many different forms of dance, but at a beginner level so that even newcomers are able to keep up. We will be working on learning a consistent and effective dance warm-up, as well as learning a variety of beginner level dance steps. We will also be working on many different dance routines so that we can learn dance steps and patterns quickly in order to prepare for dance auditions.
Ages: 13-17, 18+
Method of Instruction:
Due to the health risks involved with getting together in larger groups, the class with be divided up into two groups in order to keep everybody safe. The class will run once a week with the two groups alternating being there in person and learning at home via Livestream. Each smaller group of six will also be broken up further into groups of three while learning each piece of new choreography in order to give each student more attention from the teacher. We could also offer this class as a “do it at home” livestream only subscription, which would mean no one at the theatre, except the teacher, and everyone learning on their own at a distance.
